If anyone knows where I can track down these Medicom Daft Punk figures down, send me a PM at my 1UP page. I’ll be searching for the Daft duo in Tokyo’s toy resources in the meanwhile.

Watching this makes me feel less angry at Japanese bureaucracy.

Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, and it had to be the most grueling, miserable birthday I’ve ever had (barring a nice dinner at a restaurant called ZEST, in Ebisu), thanks to the endlessly anal, small-minded, robotic Japanese banking system, who make it incredibly difficult for foreigners (LEGAL aliens, like myself) to open a bank account. Perseverance and preparation for such inevitabilities ensured that I won in the end, but I could not believe how everything I’ve had to do so far –while in possession of all the necessary documents and paperwork– has been such an arduous, obstacle-filled process. Alien registration cards, setting up a cell phone, opening a bank account, etc. Every step far more infuriating than it needed to be.

Well, today’s a new day. Let’s see what it brings.

First day at work in Tokyo

It was 88 degrees at 9am. That’s what I get for moving from San Francisco to Tokyo. Still, the dream has come true. I’m now living in Tokyo, and staying here for a while. My first kid will be born in Tokyo, and that’s pretty awesome. If he/she wasn’t going to be born here, it would have had to have been in New York City. I spent a long-ass month since my last post organizing, packing, and preparing for all of the many things I’d have to do in order to live here. I landed at Narita last Thursday, and it’s been non-stop ever since. Bank accounts, alien registration forms, cell phones, apartment hunting for two days straight, etc. Lot of stuff to do, and even more ahead of me.

Anyway, back to work. Just wanted to commemorate the event. Day before my birthday, too. Internal clock is still adjusting. *Zzzzzz.*
